Massage Etiquette & Client Guidelines
My goal is to create a safe, calming, and respectful space where you can fully relax and receive care. These simple guidelines help ensure the best experience for everyone:
Before & During Your Session
Arrive on time.
You are encouraged to arrive early so you can relax and not miss any of your well-deserved treatment time. First-time guests will be asked to complete an intake form if not done online prior to arrival. This may shorten the time of your session.
Come clean and comfortable.
Fresh hygiene is appreciated and helps both of us feel relaxed.
Your privacy matters.
You will be left in private for both undressing and dressing. During your massage, only the area being worked on will be exposed. Proper draping with sheets and blankets is always used to protect your modesty — this is an essential part of my professional ethics and standards.
Silence your phone.
Space is provided for your personal belongings away from the therapy table. Unexpected calls or alarms involuntarily cause muscles to tense up, increase heart rate and breathing, triggers anxiety and breaks the ability to focus on the body. This can make massage less effective in relieving tension. Remember, this is your time to unplug and be present.
Communicate openly.
You’re welcome to be silent or talkative — whatever feels right for you. I’ll check in about pressure, and I encourage you to speak up about anything that affects your comfort, including temperature, scents, music, techniques, or positioning. This is your session, and my goal is for you to get the most from it.
Physical responses.
Please don’t feel embarrassed by natural body responses. Falling asleep, snoring, drooling, passing gas, experiencing congestion or a runny nose, or making other unexpected noises are all completely normal during massage. These are signs your nervous system is relaxing — and they happen more often than you think.
Respect professional boundaries.
All services at Ataraxic Mind & Massage are strictly therapeutic. Inappropriate actions or requests will result in an immediate termination of the session.
After Your Session
Share your experience.
After your massage, we’ll briefly discuss how your session felt. Please take this opportunity to let me know anything that could make your next visit even more beneficial.
Hydrate well.
Drinking plenty of water after your massage supports circulation and helps your body process the work done during your session.
Listen to your body.
Mild soreness can be normal. Gentle movement, rest, and hydration can help extend the benefits of your massage.
Gratuity & ways to show appreciation.
Tipping is never required — your presence and trust mean so much to me. If you feel inclined to leave a gratuity, it is always deeply appreciated. A customary range is 15–25%, but any amount is welcome and entirely optional.
There are also many meaningful ways to support my small business beyond tipping — including leaving a positive review, referring friends or family, rebooking your next session, or simply sharing sincere gratitude. Every kind gesture helps more than you know.
